On to the Semifinals!

Harris Cup Semifinals Are Set!

NCHA Playoff Hockey … there is nothing like it!

Saturday gave us a wild ride, with No. 1 Adrian taking care of business in convincing fashion over Concordia Wisconsin, 13-2, and No. 3 St. Norbert also sweeping its quarterfinal series against Marian, 8-2. The Bulldogs’ 10 power-play goals broke a NCAA record for most power play goals in a single game. The previous record was eight, last set in 2017. In the SNC game, the Green Knights dug out of an early 2-0 hole with eight unanswered tallies, led by four points and a hat trick from Adam Stacho.

From there it was a thrilling night to cap off the opening round of the postseason. After dropping game one Friday, No. 4 Trine came back and claimed game two of the series against MSOE. The Thunder won the full game 5-3, before securing the mini-game in overtime by the score of 1-0. Thad Marcola lit the lamp and Kyle Kozma came through with 25 saves to send Trine on to the semifinals.

No. 2 Aurora needed extra effort to take care of No. 7 Lake Forest, with the Foresters forcing the mini-game status with a 3-2 decision. The Spartans than righted the ship quickly, advancing with a 4-0 victory in the mini.

On to the semifinals next weekend will be the top 4 seeds: #1 Adrian, #2 Aurora, #3 St. Norbert, and #4 Trine.
