ANGOLA, Ind. -- The Trine University women's hockey team traveled to face off again with Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) leading Adrian College. They fell in the contest 5-1.
The Bulldogs took control of the contest through the first two periods, scoring five unanswered goals and taking the 5-0 lead into the final period.
The Thunder held the opposition scoreless in the third period and broke up the shutout in the 18th minute. Senior Emily Moore (London, Ont.) started the play by gaining control of the puck near the offensive blueline. She passed it along to junior Theresa DiMaggio (Shelby Township, Mich.) who carried the puck deep into the offensive zone before passing it again to senior Eryn Isaacson (Fenton, Mich.). Isaacson fired a backhanded shot from the faceoff dot and into the net. The goal was her third of the season.
The Trine goal would be the final of the game and Adrian would take the game 5-1.
Freshman Abbie Bost (Chelsea, Mich.) started the game in net and left in the 15th minute with nine saves. Junior Emily Nettesheim (Hartland, Wis.) finished out the game and finished with 40 saves.
The Thunder fall to 2-8 overall and 2-5 in NCHA play following the loss. They will face off with Adrian again on Friday, March 5. The game is set to start at 3 p.m. in Thunder Ice Arena.
