Mequon, Wis. -- The Trine University women's hockey team fell behind early to host Concordia University Wisconsin and were unable to come back dropping their opening Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) contest by the score of 3-1.
The Falcons came up with two goals in the first period and took the 2-0 lead into the first intermission. During the fifth minute of the second period, Concordia Wisconsin added to their lead with another goal.
In the ninth minute of the second, the Thunder finally found the back of the net. Junior Kailey Cameron (Nowthen, Minn.) started the play for the team, coming away with an assist. Freshman Sara Martino (Arlington Heights, Ill.) came up with the goal, her second of the season.
The Thunder were unable to come up with another goal during the contest and ultimately would fall by the score of 3-1.
Senior Molly Scarborough (Ramsey, Minn.) played the game in net for Trine. She finished the contest with 24 saves despite allowing the three goals.
The Thunder fall to 2-1 overall and 0-1 in NCHA play following the loss. They will take on the Falcons again tomorrow, Saturday, November 16. The game is set to start at 4 p.m. EST.
