AUSTIN, Texas – The College Sports Communicators (CSC) announced the 2022-23 Academic All-Americans for the men's at-large sports. The Academic All-Americans were voted on based on the All-District Team honorees. The nominees needed a 3.5 GPA or higher and play in 50% of games during the season with athletic success. Representing the Adrian College NCAA men's hockey team,
Sam Ruffin was named to the Division III Academic All-American Third Team.
Ruffin finished his graduate degree with a 3.95 GPA in Sports Management. During the 2022-23 season, he served as captain of the men's NCAA hockey team. He is a three-time NCHA All-Academic honoree and a two-time AHCA All-American Scholar. He was named NCHA All-Conference in 2022 and 2023 along with the NCAA Tournament MVP in 2022 after winning the National Championship. In 2022 and 2023, Ruffin was named a AHCA All-American.
Ruffin finished his career with 130 games played, 50 goals, 93 assists, and 143 points.
Ruffin is one of nine men's hockey players to be named to the Division III CSC Academic All-American team this season, and is the fourth Adrian College men's hockey player all time to earn the honor.
