Auggies score 2-2 draw with Saints

MINNEAPOLIS -- Emily Ach (JR, Brooklyn Park, Minn./Park Center HS) and Hollywood Hermanson (JR, Dover, Minn./Dover-Eyota HS) scored goals for Augsburg University, as the Auggie women's hockey team scored a 2-2, overtime tie with the College of St. Scholastica in nonconference action on Saturday afternoon at Ed Saugestad Rink.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• For the second straight game, Augsburg dominated the offensive numbers, outshooting St. Scholastica by a 47-14 margin, including a 12-1 advantage in the first period.
• Augsburg was unable to score on a 5-on-3 power play opportunity in overtime, while the Saints were unable to get off a shot on-goal during a power-play opportunity in the final two minutes of the overtime. Augsburg had six shots on-goal in overtime.
• Ach scored her first goal of the season, assisted by Jeanette Bealke (JR, White Bear Lake, Minn./White Bear Lake HS) at the 6:00 mark of the second period, and after the Saints took a 2-1 lead at the 1:23 mark of the third period, Hermanson tied the game with a goal 41 seconds later, assisted by Ach.
• Making her first start as an Auggie after playing her first two seasons at Hamline, Annie Juergens (JR, Lino Lakes, Minn./Centennial HS) had 12 saves in goal.
Nikki Nightengale (JR, Bloomington, Minn./Jefferson HS) had seven shots on-goal for Augsburg, while Bridget Wagner (SR, Princeton, Minn./Princeton HS) and Megan Johnson (SR, Madison, Wis./Memorial HS) had six shots each.

FOR THE FOES
• Lexi Thomeczek had 45 saves in goal for St. Scholastica.
• Courtney Bloemke scored from Paige Forsman at the 14:48 mark of the second period, and Kayla Kasel scored from Mariah Haedrich at the 1:23 mark of the third period for the Saints.

UP NEXT
• Augsburg opens Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play next weekend with a series against Bethel on Nov. 9-10.
