The Lake Forest College men's hockey team finished the 2021 season with a victory, defeating host Aurora University 2-1 Saturday night.
The only score of the night surrendered by Forester sophomore goaltender Carson Poulin came on the Spartans' first shot on goal more than seven minutes into the contest. He went on to record a career-high 45 saves and kept the home team off the scoreboard for the rest of the game.
After scoring twice on the power play in Friday night's 3-2 loss to Aurora, the Foresters converted their first man advantage opportunity at the 17:53 mark of Saturday's opening period. It was the first goal of the season for sophomore forward David Cohen, who was assisted by senior forwards Joey Sardina and Troy Nelson.
Cohen struck again at 9:31 in the second with sophomore forward Ryan Kropp and defenseman Scotty Nicholson assisting. It turned out to be the official game-winner, the second of Cohen's career.
It was the final career game for eight Forester seniors who helped lead the team to a 46-32-11 record over the last four seasons.
