Box Score Hamline's first men's hockey game in nearly a month saw some goals from different folks.
Tommy Hall and
Jesse Kessler had their first goals of the season and
Taylor Trapp added his second in a 4-3 loss at St. Scholastica Wednesday night.
Lance Knudson turned in a solid effort in his first start in goal, recording 27 saves. The winner came on a power play with less than three minute to play in the game.
Hall got the Pipers with an unassisted effort, the lone tally of the first period. Kessler finished off play
Mitch Bentfield started at 4:13 of the second for a 2-0 lead. The saints halved the margin during the period and scored twice eight minutes apart in the third period for a 3-2 edge. Trapp got that one back with help from
Jaycob McCombs and
Brandon Reinholz and it looked like HU was headed for another overtime game.
But CSS used the man advantage to get the game winner and drop the Pipers to 3-7-1 overall on the season.
HU now turns its attention to MIAC play. They play at Augsburg on Friday, January 5 and then get their first game in their new home -- TRIA rink -- against the Auggies on Saturday, January 6. Both games are slated for 7:00 p.m. faceo0ffs.
