The Lake Forest College men's hockey team saw its season come to an end Saturday afternoon following a 3-1 loss at Adrian College, the top-ranked team in the country.
The Bulldogs took the lead on a power play goal midway through the opening period and doubled it at the 14:34 mark.
The score remained 2-0 until Forester junior defenseman Scotty Nicholson gained control of a loose puck between the circles and fired it past the Adrian goalie with 5:44 remaining in the contest.
Forester junior goaltender Nick Wiencek, who stopped 26 of 28 shots on goal on the afternoon, exited the ice for an extra attacker with a minute to play and the Bulldogs hit the empty net less than 20 seconds later to clinch the victory.
Lake Forest finished the season 7-18-2 while Adrian earned its 26th consecutive victory after a season-opening loss.
It was the final career game for Forester seniors Kyle Cote, Cullen Kane, Will Lebel, and Josh Giacomin.
