HU men's hockey team put on a third period surge but St. Scholastica held firm at the end and dealt the Pipers a 3-1 non-conference setback Tuesday at TRIA Rink.
CSS scored singletons in each of the first two periods. The Pipers broke loose for 18 third period shots on goal.
Taylor Trapp (pictured) got HU on the scoreboard, converting feeds from
Weiland Parrish and
Zack Taylor at 2:17 to make it 2-1. Trapp led the Pipers' 39 shot attack with six. Hamline kept up the pressure but it was the Saints who got the final goal. HU goalie
Evan Robert recorded 26 saves.
HU, now 2-7 overall, returns to the ice December 7-8 for a two-game conference series at Concordia.
