ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE

129 student-athletes from the NCHA were recognized by the American Hockey Coaches Association for their academic excellence during the 2018-19 school year. These outstanding individuals earned a 3.6 GPA or greater and participated in at least 40 percent of their team's games.

"The list of honorees represents the best of the NCAA student-athletes who excel on and off the ice," said AHCA Executive Director Joe Bertagna. "The sport demands a great deal from these athletes so it is a great statement they make, individually and collectively, with their ability to attain this level of academic achievement."

Two student-athletes from the NCHA earned All-American status both on and off the ice last year.  Adrian senior defenseman Braden Hellems achieved the rare feat from the Men's Conference and St. Scholastica junior goaltender Lexi Thomeczek did the same from the Women's Conference.
