Adrian College’s VonRuden and Marian University’s Kolpitcke
Selected for NCHA Women’s Hockey Weekly Honors

Adrian College graduate student Jessica VonRuden (F - Owatonna, Minn.) is the NCHA Women’s Offensive Player of the Week and Marian University junior Kayla Kolpitcke (G - Powell, Wyo.) is the NCHA Women’s Defensive Player of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday.

VonRuden becomes the third different Bulldog to claim NCHA Offensive Player of the Week this season, claiming the award for the third time in her career after she led the charge in a two-game sweep of Finlandia that included a new NCAA record for goals scored in a game by a team (19). She netted an impressive seven goals in the series, recording back-to-back hat tricks which puts her at four consecutive hat tricks now overall. One of her goals was shorthanded, while also claiming the eventual game-winners in each. She added four assists for 11 total points, with her current streak helping her vault to second in the NCHA with 37 points (tied for league lead with 22 goals/15 assists) as Adrian moves to 16-1 on the season and 8-0 in NCHA play.

Kolpitcke picks up her first NCHA Defensive Player of the Week honors of the season and third of her career after continuing her strong second half of the season, leading Marian to a sweep of Lawrence University. She made 30 saves in the opener, only allowing two goals (in a 3-2 win) and followed that with 22 saves and just one goal allowed in the second game, sending the Sabres to a 3-1 victory. Kolpitcke finished the series a perfect 2-0 with a .945 save percentage and 52 total saves, while also holding the Vikings scoreless on 13 power-play chances. So far in the second half, Kolpitcke is an impressive 5-1-0 overall with a .937 save percentage.

2022-23 NCHA WEEKLY TOP PERFORMERS

Payton Hans, Trine
Hans led the Thunder offense in an explosive weekend against visiting Hilbert College. She began the weekend with a five-goal performance in the team’s 10-0 victory. The showing set the program record for goals in a single game. Then on Saturday she once again paced the team with two goals and an assist, as Trine won 8-0.

Annika Hanson, Adrian
Hanson finished the weekend with five points. On Friday she recorded a hat trick to give herself the first three goals of the season. On Saturday she added a pair of assists and finished +8 on the weekend.

Allie Kieffer, Marian
Kieffer scored a goal in each game of a sweep against Lawrence. Her goal in the finale of the series proved to be the game-winner.

Hannah Turnage, Lake Forest
Turnage helped Lake Forest earn a pair of points in the standings at St. Norbert over the weekend. She turned away 34 of 36 shots on goal Friday night, recorded 29 saves in Saturday’s 3-3 tie, and stopped two more attempts to help the Foresters win the shootout.
