Adrian College’s Bjelland and St. Norbert College’s Waisman
Earn NCHA Women’s Hockey Weekly Honors

Adrian College senior Une Bjelland (F - Stavanger, Norway) is the NCHA Women’s Offensive Player of the Week and St. Norbert College junior Brynn Waisman (G - G - Richmond, British Columbia) is the NCHA Women’s Defensive Player of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday.

Bjelland is the NCHA Offensive Player of the Week for the second time this season after posting one of the more impressive two-game performances in NCHA history in a sweep of Lawrence. Bjelland totaled 13 points on the strength of six goals and seven assists to earn her third career Player of the Week honor. She broke the school record Friday for most points in a game (8) and most goals  in a game (5), notching a pair of first-period goals and a hat trick alone in the third, contributing a pair of assists in the second period and a third helper in the final stanza. She added a five-point outing (1G/4A) in the second contest and finished +9 on the weekend with 11 shots.

Waisman picks up her first NCHA Defensive Player of the Week honors of the season and third of her career after playing a key factor in St. Norbert’s road sweep of nationally ranked Aurora this past week, getting the starts between the pipes in both 2-0 and 3-2 victories over the No. 12 Spartans. Waisman made 27 saves in last Thursday’s shutout win, her fourth of the season. Waisman then made 32 stops in Friday’s 3-2 win that saw the Green Knights remain unbeaten in NCHA play at 8-0 and hold a seven-point lead in the conference standings (24-17). She finished the series with a 1.01 goals-against average, 59 total saves, and a .967 save percentage.

2022-23 NCHA WEEKLY TOP PERFORMERS

Brooke Anderson, Marian
Anderson helped lead Marian to a sweep of Northland in non-conference action with a three-point weekend. Anderson had her second multi-point game of the season in the opener scoring a goal with an assist. She then netted the game-winning goal in the series of the finale.

Emma Corbett, Adrian
Corbett led the Adrian defense with three points on the weekend. She netted a goal with a pair of assists and finished +6 on the week. He goal came shorthanded on the weekend where she totaled four shots.

Abby Edstrom, Marian
Edstrom earned her first victory as a Sabre in the series finale against Northland. She made 22 saves allowing just one goal for a .957 save percentage.

Natalie Hogan, St. Norbert
Hogan figured in on all three St. Norbert goals in Saturday’s 3-2 win over Aurora, which kept the Green Knights unbeaten in NCHA play at 8-0. Hogan scored one goal and two assists in Friday’s win, scoring St. Norbert’s second goal and assisting on the first and third. Hogan leads the resurgent Green Knights in scoring with 24 points, posting 12 goals and 12 assists.

Emily Reimche, Concordia Wisconsin
Reimche scored the lone CUW goal on Friday and then added two primary assists on Saturday in the 3-0 win.

Samantha Shoebottom, Lake Forest
Shoebottom posted her first collegiate hat trick and finished Lake Forest’s 5-1 victory over Concordia Wisconsin on Friday with a career-high four points. She scored once in each period and added an assist on the Foresters’ fourth goal of the night.

Annalina Van Hercke, Concordia Wisconsin
Van Hercke posted a .934 save percentage on the weekend, recording a shutout on Saturday with 36 saves. She then had four saves in the shootout to help the Falcons claim the Border Battle Cup for the first time in program history.
