Aurora University’s Matson and Adrian College’s Goldberg
Selected for NCHA Women’s Hockey Weekly Honors

Aurora University sophomore Darci Matson (F - Wasilla, Alaska) is the NCHA Women’s Offensive Player of the Week and Adrian College senior Sophie Goldberg (G - Newtown, Pa.) is the NCHA Women’s Defensive Player of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday.

Matson is the NCHA Offensive Player of the Week for the second time this season after rising to the top of a strong field of nominees with more eye-popping offensive numbers. The Spartan forward added seven more points in two wins on the weekend with three goals and four assists, tallying the game-winning goal in the opening victory over Northland - an outing that saw her post five points (2G/3A). In 13 games played, she has 39 points, a 3.00 ppg total that leads all levels of college hockey. Matson has scored 20 goals with 19 assists, with six of her goals being the game winning variety in the 11 Aurora wins on the season. The honor is the fourth of her career.

Goldberg picks up her third NCHA Defensive Player of the Week honors of the season (and fourth career) after a near-flawless pair of outings against a Suffolk University squad that came into the weekend series receiving votes in the USCHO.com national poll. She finished the weekend with 59 total stops for an impressive .983 save percentage and allowed one goal in the series for a 0.50 goals-against average. On Friday she finished with 30 saves in a 3-0 shutout followed by 29 more on Saturday in the 3-1 win. Opponents also went 0-for-5 on the power play.

2022-23 NCHA WEEKLY TOP PERFORMERS

Karmen Anderson, Adrian
Anderson finished the weekend with three points against RV Suffolk University. She scored a goal in each of the two games played while also adding an assist on Friday night. She totaled eight shots on the weekend while also finishing +2.

Brooke Gibson, Concordia Wisconsin
Gibson scored the game-winning goal in overtime at Bethel, where she also added two assists.

Kayla Kolpitcke, Marian
Kolpitcke only allowed two goals as Marian earned wins over Nichols and Bethel. Kolpitcke allowed just one goal in each game making 25 saves against the Bison and 29 stops against the Royals. She anchored a penalty-kill unit that didn’t allow a power-play goal on six chances for the weekend. Kolpitcke finished the weekend with a .964 save percentage.

Sydney Schipper, Marian
Schipper scored a pair of goals as Marian defeated Nichols and Bethel in non-conference action. Her goal against Nichols proved to be the game-winning goal.

Samantha Steciak, Aurora
Steciak made 28 saves in a 4-0 victory over Northland on Sunday. She stopped all 28 shots sent her way as the No. 9 Spartans ran their unbeaten streak to nine games.

Hannah Turnage, Lake Forest
Turnage tallied 109 saves in three games in Vermont last week. After stopping 28 of 30 shots on goal in a 2-2 tie at Castleton University on Tuesday, she made 58 saves, the third-highest single-game total in team history, in a 4-0 loss at defending national champion Middlebury College on Wednesday. Turnage capped off the week with a 23-save shutout at NCAA Division I Saint Michael’s College on Friday. She posted a 1.95 goals against average and .948 save percentage on the week.

Annalina Van Hercke, Concordia Wisconsin
Van Hercke posted 29 saves in an overtime victory at Bethel.
