Earn NCHA Women’s Hockey Weekly Honors

Trine University sophomore Payton Hans (F - Johnson Creek, Wis.) is the NCHA Women’s Offensive Player of the Week and Concordia University Wisconsin sophomore Kami McCardle (G - Jackson, Wis.) is the NCHA Women’s Defensive Player of the Week honors, the league office announced Tuesday.

Hans picks up her first career NCHA Offensive Player of the Week honors after an impressive offensive display in a weekend sweep of Hilbert. She tallied an eye-opening 10 points in the two games, accumulating six total goals while adding four more assists to help the Thunder run its win streak on the season to four in a row. She began the weekend with her first collegiate hat trick, recording three goals as well as four assists for seven points in the 13-0 victory, with the assist and point totals establishing new single-game standards for Trine. Not done there, she followed up Sunday with a second hat trick in another lopsided 11-0 win, lighting the lamp once in each period.

McCardle becomes the third Falcons player to pick up a weekly honor this season, earning the NCHA Defensive Player of the Week for the second time in her career following a flawless performance in a weekend sweep of Finlandia. She opened the series with a 23-save shutout Friday, keeping the Lions off the board on six power-play opportunities. She followed that up with her second straight scoreless appearance Saturday, making 11 more saves while holding Finlandia to an 0-for-9 showing on the power play. For the series, she went 2-0 with 34 total saves, helping CUW improve to 8-3-1 on the season to mark the best start in program history.
