St. Scholastica’s Anderson and Adrian’s Jandova
Earn Initial NCHA Women’s Hockey Weekly Honors

College of St. Scholastica junior Rachel Anderson (F - Shoreview, Minn.) is the NCHA Women’s Offensive Player of the Week and Adrian College sophomore Denisa Jandova (G - Vejprnice, Czech Republic) is the NCHA Women’s Defensive Player of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday.

Anderson is the NCHA Offensive Player of the Week after she accounted for all three of St. Scholastica’s goals on the weekend. Two of her three goals came in the third period against fifth-ranked St. Thomas on Saturday as the Saints erased a 1-0 deficit to defeat the Tommies 2-1 and give the program its first-ever win over a Top 5 nationally-ranked program.

Jandova is the NCHA Defensive Player of the Week after compiling a 1.50 goals-against average and .953 save percentage while appearing in two of Adrian’s three victories on the week. She posted 40 saves for a career-high in a home game as the Bulldogs upended No. 2-ranked and 2019 NCAA finalist Hamline, 4-1. She stopped all 15 Pipers shots in the first period as AC took a 1-0 lead after 20 minutes. Then against St. Mary’s (Minn.) on Saturday, she turned aside 21 shots in a 3-2 victory.

2019-20 NCHA WEEKLY TOP PERFORMERS

Abbie Grias, Adrian
Grias led Adrian with three goals and tied for the team lead with five points as the Bulldogs started the season with a 3-0 record. She also had a plus-4 rating. She scored two goals in the first period and had the secondary assist on the game-winning goal to help Adrian hold off St. Mary’s (Minn.), 3-2, on Saturday. On Sunday in a 4-2 win over St. Mary’s (Minn.), she had a power play goal that proved to be the game-winner and had the primary assist on a tying goal that made the score 1-1 in the second period.

Lexi Thomeczek, St. Scholastica
Thomeczek made a total of 70 saves in two games over the weekend. Thomeczek surrendered three goals in the two games, one of which was on the power-play, but kept the Saints in it with 33 saves in a one-goal loss to Gustavus Adolphus College on Friday and 37 saves in a 2-1 win over No. 5 St. Thomas on Saturday. The win over the Tommies was the program?s first victory over a nationally-ranked Top 5 team.
