NCHA Women’s Hockey Weekly Honors
College of St. Scholastica senior Alexia Klaas (F - Duluth, Minn.) is the NCHA Women’s Offensive Player of the Week and Aurora University sophomore Chiara Pfosi (G - Ipsach, Switzerland) is the NCHA Women’s Defensive Player of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday.

Klaas is the NCHA Offensive Player of the Week for the second time in her career after playing a key role in a weekend sweep of Marian University. In the two games against the Sabres, Klaas recorded three points to help lead the way. On Friday, she assisted the second goal before adding an insurance marker late in the contest. Saturday, she followed that by assisting the game-winner in overtime to help the Saints to the thrilling 1-0 victory.
Pfosi becomes the second NCHA Defensive Player of the Week in a row from Aurora after posting a shutout of St. Norbert College in her only action of the week. She rose to the top of a quality field of nominees after stopping all 31 shots that came her way, with the Spartans needing every one of them in the 1-0 victory over the Green Knights. She came up with at least 10 saves every period for her second career shutout, helping AU to its first-ever victory over St. Norbert in four tries.
2018-19 NCHA WEEKLY TOP PERFORMERS
Amy Budde, Lake Forest
Budde scored a power play goal in each game of Lake Forest’s sweep of Concordia Wisconsin over the weekend to become the fifth player in program history to reach 100 career points. The senior was responsible for the second tally in Saturday night’s 4-2 victory and the official game-winner of Sunday’s 3-1 triumph.
Sarah Chan, Aurora
Chan scored the only goal in Aurora’s 1-0 win over St. Norbert. The game-winner came on the power play.
Hannah Nelson, Trine
Nelson recorded her first multi-goal game against Finlandia on Saturday, as the Thunder went on to win by the score of 5-2. Her first goal put Trine on the board and tied the game at one in the first period. Her second goal iced the game giving the team their final three-goal lead.
Molly Scarborough, Trine
Scarborough came up with a crucial 18-save shutout in a close game against Finlandia on Friday. The team ultimately one 1-0, with Scarborough holding down the fort in net.
Lindsey Strainis, Marian
Strainis had a big weekend in goal for the Sabres despite being swept by St. Scholastica. Strainis totaled 86 saves with a 1.49 goals against average and .966 save percentage in the series with a 66-save performance in the finale. Her performance in the finale of the series was the fourth-most saves in a single game in Marian history and only the seventh time in program history someone has made 60 or more saves.
Gabby Suhr, Northland
In two games against Adrian College this weekend, Suhr recorded 84 saves for a .955 save percentage, while giving up four total goals to the nationally-ranked Bulldogs.
Lexi Thomeczek, St. Scholastica
Thomeczek made 28 saves in Friday night’s 3-0 shutout of Marian. It was Thomeczek’s first shutout of the season and she has made at least 28 saves in all three starts thus far and has allowed just three goals on 108 shots on goal.
