Pick Up NCHA Women’s Hockey Weekly Honors
Aurora University sophomore Nicole McKernan (F - Westminster, Colo.) is the NCHA Women’s Offensive Player of the Week and Lake Forest College junior Jacque Rogers (G - Marysville, Mich.) is the NCHA Women’s Defensive Player of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday.

McKernan accounted for almost every goal for her team to pick up the first NCHA Offensive Player of the Week honors of her career. She ended up netting four of the five goals for the Spartans in a weekend series with Stevens Point, nearly leading her team to the sweep of the Pointers. She lit the lamp both times in a close 3-2 loss Friday and then followed that up with two more Saturday. Her first came in the final seconds of the opening period and her goal midway through the second stood up as the game-winner in the 3-1 victory. She now has eight goals on the season to lead the AU women.
Rogers is the NCHA Defensive Player of the Week for the first time this season and the third time in her career after a stellar showing in a pair of games against 10th-ranked Eau Claire over the weekend. She opened the series with 36 saves in the 3-1 triumph Friday. On Saturday, she stopped a season-high 45 shots on goal in a tough 2-1 loss, with all three of the goals allowed on the weekend coming on the power play. Her stats included a .964 save percentage and 81 total saves.
2018-19 NCHA WEEKLY TOP PERFORMERS
Jossa Danis, Concordia Wisconsin
Danis scored the overtime game-winner over UW-Superior to give the Falcons their first win over the Yellowjackets in eight years. With the Falcons down 1-0 in the third period, the senior assisted on the game-tying goal at the 10:07 mark to help send the game to overtime. With 1:40 remaining in overtime, Danis deflected a shot past the Yellowjacket goalie to give the Falcons the 2-1 win, their second win over UW-Superior in program history.
Kortney Diaz, Adrian
Diaz scored both goals in Adrian’s 2-1 OT win over Trine on Saturday, Jan. 12. A powerplay goal to tie the game early in the third and then the overtime winner with 27 seconds remaining. Also added an assist against Norwich in the East-West Classic consolation game on Monday, Jan. 7.
Christina Pattengale, Concordia Wisconsin
Pattengale helped Concordia Wisconsin get their first win over UW-Superior in eight years on Friday. The senior had 26 saves and allowed only a single goal to give the Falcons the opportunity they needed to take a 2-1 win over the Yellowjackets.
Chiara Pfosi, Aurora
Pfosi went 1-1 on the weekend against the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. She lost 3-2 on Friday afternoon while posting 36 saves and rebounded on Saturday for a 43 save victory 3-1. She carried a shutout for 88:12 before Point was able to break up her shutout bid with an extra attacker with 1:12 to play in the game.
Molly Scarborough, Trine
The Thunder forced overtime against nationally-ranked Adrian on Saturday behind the strong play in net of Scarborough. She held the Bulldogs scoreless through two periods, including a second period that featured 21 saves. Overall in the contest, she allowed just the two goals while turning aside 50.
