Pick Up NCHA Women’s Hockey Weekly Honors
Northland College junior Robyn Matula (F - Niverville, MB) is the NCHA Women’s Offensive Player of the Week and Concordia University Wisconsin senior Christina Pattengale (G - Portage, Mich.) is the NCHA Women’s Defensive Player of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday.

Matula picks up the first NCHA Offensive Player of the Week honors of her career following a big weekend on the ice for the LumberJills, racking up four goals in two games. On Friday, she tied the game, 4-4, midway through the third period before Concordia pulled out the win. On Saturday, Matula lit the lamp three times. The first broke a 1-1 tie in the second period and the next gave Northland the 3-2 lead, ending up as the game-winner. She then pulled off the hat trick late in the third period of the 5-2 victory over Concordia (MN).
Pattengale is the NCHA Defensive Player of the Week for the second time this season and the fifth time in her collegiate career. Pattengale shut out the Wildcats in Concordia Wisconsin’s 2-0 victory over St. Catherine Friday. The senior had 31 saves to hold the Wildcats scoreless to record her sixth career shutout. On Saturday, she made 25 saves over the first two periods to keep her team in the game at the time, totaling a .955 save percentage and 63 saves in the weekend series (1.51 GAA).
Editor’s note: There will be no NCHA Weekly Release for the women’s side the rest of 2018, due to the light schedule over the holiday break (just 5 games by 3 teams between now and January 1). The next release will come out Jan. 8, 2019.
2018-19 NCHA WEEKLY TOP PERFORMERS
Morgan Bolin, Marian
Bolin scored three goals on the week in the span of two games. She opened the week scoring an equalizer goal to help lead the Sabres past UW-Stevens Point for the first time in program history. Bolin then had her second multi-goal game of the year again Augsburg. The Cary, Ill. native cut the lead down to one against the Auggies with a second period goal and a third period power play goal, the first power play goal the Augsburg penalty kill has allowed. Bolin has now scored five goals in her last four games.
Amy Budde, Lake Forest
Budde recorded her third career hat trick and added an assist Friday night as Lake Forest hosted and defeated Aurora 7-0 in non-conference play. Her power play goal in the first started the scoring and moved her into third place in program history in career points (109 after Friday). She added another score 64 seconds later, recorded an assist 45 seconds into the second period, and netted her 49th career goal at the 3:34 mark of the middle stanza.
Emily Godwin, Concordia
Godwin scored the game-winner in the Falcons 2-0 shutout win over St. Catherine on Friday. The junior also had an assist on the lone Falcon goal on Saturday.
Olyvia Opsahl, Lake Forest
Entering the game with three assists on the year, Olyvia Opsahl matched that total in Lake Forest’s 7-0 victory over Aurora on Friday. She set up both of the goals in the opening period and added the third helper just nine seconds into the second. The freshman defenseman was +5 on the evening and was on the ice for each of the Foresters’ first six goals.
Lindsey Strainis, Marian
Strainis had another strong performance to lead Marian past UW-Stevens Point for the first time in program history. Strainis made 32 saves in the victory against the Pointers only allowing one goal. She also helped lead the penalty kill to a perfect night holding UWSP scoreless on three power plays.
