Anderson and Thomeczek Named AHCA/CCM All-Americans

AHCA/CCM WOMEN'S HOCKEY ALL-AMERICANS

ST. PAUL (csssaints.com) – The American Hockey Coaches Association (AHCA) recognized St. Scholastica's Rachel Anderson (Shoreview, Minn./Mounds View HS) and Lexi Thomeczek (St. Louis, Mo./St. Joseph Academy (St. Louis AAA Blues)) as West Region CCM Women's Hockey All-Americans; it was announced Thursday night at the NCAA Division III Final Four Banquet.

Anderson First Team
Anderson becomes the first, First Team All-American since Nina Waidacher in 2014-15. Waidacher was a two-time First Team All-American also earning the honor in her sophomore season, like Anderson, in 2012-13.

Anderson was named the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) Player of the Year, becoming the second player in program history to earn that distinction. The First Team All-NCHA choice had a record-breaking year for the Saints. She set program records for points (44) and assists (31) in a season. Her five game-winning goals tied a single-season program record.

Her 44 points ranked fifth in NCAA Division III and third amongst West Region players. Her 31 assists ranked second in the country. Anderson recorded at least one point in all, but five games during the year. Nearly half of the Saints' goals this year included Anderson with the goal or an assist.

Thomeczek Second Team
The junior becomes the first CSS goaltender to earn All-American accolades in program history. The All-NCHA selection led all NCHA goaltenders with 15 wins and tied for a conference-high of seven shutouts. She set program records for shutouts in a career and a season, as well as, most wins in a season and a career.

This was Thomeczek's best season yet with .950 save percentage and a 1.54 goals-against-average. Thomeczek recorded a career-high 669 saves and recorded more shutouts this past season than her previous two seasons combined.
