Adrian College’s Fox and St. Norbert College’s Grall
Earn NCHA Women’s Hockey Weekly Honors

Adrian College senior Olivia Fox (F - Massillon, Ohio) is the NCHA Women’s Offensive Player of the Week and St. Norbert College senior Leigh Grall (G - Janesville, Wis.) is the NCHA Women’s Defensive Player of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday.

Fox played a key role in the weekend series against Lake Forest College to earn NCHA Offensive Player of the Week honors. Her play helped the Bulldogs to the sweep and a leapfrog to the top of the NCHA standings. She led the Bulldogs to a 2-1 week overall with four points (2G/2A) - all coming against the Foresters - a plus-5 rating and eight shots on goal. Against Lake Forest, she tied the score at 2-2 in a 4-2 win Friday. She followed that up by assisting on the game-winner during a 5-2 victory, also netting the final goal to secure the decision.

Grall came up big in a pair of one-goal games to earn NCHA Defensive Player of the Week accolades, helping the Green Knights move into a tie for third place in the conference standings with the results. She made 19 saves in Friday’s 2-1 victory over Marian University and followed that up with 13 stops in Saturday’s 3-2 overtime win to complete the series sweep of the Sabres. Her totals for the week included a 1.47 GAA and .914 save percentage.

2017-18 NCHA WEEKLY TOP PERFORMERS

Rachel Anderson, St. Scholastica
Anderson became the third Saint to record three assists in a game this season as she did so in Saturday’s win over Concordia Wisconsin. The win completed a sweep of the Falcons, which was the first time CSS swept CUW during the regular season in program history.

Morgan Bolin, Marian
Bolin recorded a pair of goals on the week with the lone goal for Marian in a 3-1 loss to Stevens Point and a goal in the finale against St. Norbert. Her goal against the Green Knights gave the Sabres a 2-1 lead after the first period.

Bailey Goodwin, Trine
The freshman defender led the team with two goals this weekend, as Trine went 1-1 against Aurora. On Friday, Goodwin netted her first goal of the season and would end up being the game-winner. On Saturday, Goodwin scored the team’s first goal of the night unassisted, taking the puck the length of the ice and finishing the play herself.

Mac Johnson, St. Scholastica
Since moving from forward to defenseman earlier this season, Johnson recorded her first multi-goal game of the year in Saturday’s win over Concordia Wisconsin. Johnson now has three goals in the last three games.

Kristen Kennedy, Concordia
Kennedy played a role in all three of the Falcons goals over the weekend. The junior forward had two assists Friday and added one helper Saturday.

Lexi Pyykkonen, St. Norbert
Pyykkonen scored the first goal in Friday’s 2-1 win over Marian and then tallied the overtime winner in Saturday’s 3-2 decision over Marian.

Lindsey Strainis, Marian
Strainis stood on her head for a two-game series against St. Norbert stopping a total of 60 shots with a .923 save percentage. Strainis recorded 33 saves in the opener, the fifth time this year she has made more than 30 saves, and followed that up with 27 saves in the finale of the series.

Kate Turner, Adrian
In a NCHA sweep over first-place Lake Forest, Turner turned aside 36 of 40 shots in 4-2 and 5-2 wins over the Foresters.
