NCHA Men’s Hockey Weekly Honors
Marian University junior Clay Cross (F - Glendale, Ariz.) is the NCHA Men’s Offensive Player of the Week and junior teammate Hunter Vorva (G - Kalamazoo, Mich.) is the NCHA Men’s Defensive Player of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday.

Cross is the NCHA Offensive Player of the Week for the second time in his career after leading Marian University to a 2-0 week that included an impressive victory over nationally-ranked Adrian College. Cross recorded four important points in the two contests, starting with the game-winning goal and an assist in a victory over Trine Friday. He then followed that up with the goal that gave the Sabres a 2-0 lead over the No. 2 Bulldogs in the first period Saturday, a tally that would serve as the game-winner in the 4-1 victory. He also added an empty-netter late to put the game away.
Vorva is the NCHA Defensive Player of the Week after following up Friday’s 4-2 victory over Trine with a career-high 46 saves in the upset of No. 2 Adrian - holding the high-powered Bulldogs scoreless on six power-play opportunities. The Kalamazoo, Mich., native totaled 66 saves on the weekend with a 1.50 goals-against average to go with a .957 save percentage, helping him earn his fourth NCHA Defensive Player of the Week honor of his career.

Rock Boynton, MSOE
Boynton made 35 saves Saturday night in overtime upset of #1 St. Norbert.
Garrett Hallford, Trine
Hallford finished the weekend with three points including a goal and two assists. On Friday, he added an assist on the team’s first goal of the night, which gave the team a lead heading into the first intermission. On Saturday, he led the team with two points scoring the team’s first goal to tie the game at one and then assisting on the final goal of the game to give Trine the 5-1 victory.
Henry Hearon, Trine
Hearon led a strong defensive effort by the Thunder over the course of the weekend. The team gave up just 38 shots between the two games this weekend, including only 14 against Lawrence. Hearon also made an offensive contribution by providing 3 assists against Lawrence on Saturday.
Shawn O’Malley, Aurora
O’Malley produced the first hat trick in the young history of the Aurora men’s program in the Spartans 5-3 home win over Northland. O’Malley scored three times, once on a power play and his third and final goal of the afternoon coming as the game-winning goal.
Adam Ostrowski, MSOE
Ostrowski scored game-winning goal in 3-2 overtime upset of #1 St. Norbert.
Kyle Star, St. Scholastica
Star assisted all three St. Scholastica goals in Friday’s night’s season-opener at Aurora.
Nick Trenciansky, St. Scholastica
In his first start of the season Saturday at Lake Forest, Trenciansky made a career-high 35 saves to lead the Saints to their first win of the year.
Bryan Yim, Adrian
Yim led Adrian with four goals during a 1-1 weekend against NCHA competition. In a 7-0 win over Lawrence on Friday, he potted his third-career hat trick which included two power play goals. In a 4-1 loss (Adrian allowed two-empty net tallies), he scored that cut the deficit to 2-1 in the second period. He finished with a team-high 12 shots on goal and was 12-for-21 on face-offs.
