Earn NCHA Men’s Hockey Weekly Honors
Adrian College senior Bryan Yim (F - Farmington, Mich.) is the NCHA Men’s Offensive Player of the Week and Marian University junior Hunter Vorva (G - Kalamazoo, Mich.) is the NCHA Men’s Defensive Player of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday.

Yim is the NCHA Offensive Player of the Week after coming through when the Bulldogs needed him the most against then-No. 3 St. Norbert. He played a key role in helping Adrian storm back from a three-goal deficit in the third period, tying the contest at 3-3 with 1:19 left in regulation before netting the game-winner 1:45 into overtime to upend the defending national champions. Yim leads the Bulldogs with six goals in six contests - a number that also paces the NCHA.
Vorva is the NCHA Defensive Player of the Week for the second time in a row, helping Marian stay perfect on the young season with two more wins. He posted a strong weekend in goal, allowing just one goal each outing. Vorva totaled 35 saves with a .946 save percentage on the weekend as the Sabres defeated Lake Forest (2-1) and Aurora (4-1). In the opener, Vorva stopped 18 Forester shots, only allowing one power-play goal, before adding another 17 saves against the Spartans to help him earn his fifth NCHA Defensive Player of the Week honor of his career.
2018-19 NCHA WEEKLY TOP PERFORMERS
Rock Boynton, MSOE
Boynton posted a 1.92 GAA and .925 save percentage in a 1-0-1 road weekend, stopping 49 shots in two games.
Cory Dunn, Adrian
Dunn led Adrian in scoring with six points on two goals and four assists with a plus-4 rating in the Bulldogs sweep of NCHA foes, 5-1 over Finlandia and 4-3 in overtime against #3 St. Norbert. He had a goal and two assists in both victories. Versus the Lions, he assisted on the go-ahead goal. Versus the Green Knights, he assisted on the game-winning OT goal. On the season, he leads the team with 10 points (3G, 7A) in six games.
Will Gauthier, MSOE
Gauthier notched a goal and two assists in a 1-0-1 league road trip. He scored the equalizer at Northland Friday and assisted on the equalizer at St. Scholastica Saturday.
Garrett Hallford, Trine
Hallford led the way for the Thunder in a win over Finlandia with three points including two goals and one assist. It is the first multi-goal game of his career.
Kristofer McKinzie, St. Scholastica
McKinzie had a two-point weekend with an assist of the game-winner in Friday night’s 4-2 victory over Concordia Wisconsin. Then on Saturday, the senior captain scored his first goal of the season in a 2-2 tie against the Milwaukee School of Engineering.
Nick Monfils, Marian
Monfils had a three-assist game to lead Marian past Aurora. One of his assists in the victory came on the game-winning goal.
Nick Trenciansky, St. Scholastica
Trenciansky started both games this weekend for the Saints, leading the team to a 1-0-1 record. In Friday night’s win over Concordia Wisconsin, Trenciansky made 28 saves to preserve the 4-2 victory. Then in Saturday’s 2-2 tie against the Milwaukee School of Engineering, Trenciansky made 20 saves. Three of the four goals allowed on the weekend were of the power-play variety.
Brett Young, Trine
Young finished games this weekend with 34 saves (against St. Norbert) and 40 saves (against Finlandia) respectively.
