APPLETON, Wis. -- Lawrence University hockey standout Josh Koepplinger has signed a contract with the Macon Mayhem of the Southern Professional Hockey League.

Koepplinger, a senior forward from Saginaw, Mich., recently completed a stellar career with the Vikings that saw him finish among the school's career leaders in multiple categories.

"While I am sad that my hockey career is over at Lawrence University, I am fortunate to be able to continue my career with the Macon Mayhem," Koepplinger said. "I am very excited to finish the season in Macon playing for a first-class organization with a tradition of excellence. I look forward to bringing what I learned at Lawrence to this team and helping any way I can."

Koepplinger led the team in goals, assists and points this past season. He scored 10 times and picked up 14 assists for a team-high 24 points.

Koepplinger finished with 47 career goals, and that ranks fourth in Lawrence history. He piled up 44 assists and finished with 91 points, good for sixth in Lawrence history. An incredibly durable player, the 6-foot-2, 200-pound Koepplinger played in 102 of a possible 103 games during his career.

"Josh is a natural scorer who has a great release," Lawrence coach Mike Szkodzinski said. "We couldn't be happier for him and look forward to watching him at the next level."

Koepplinger is the 15th player in Szkodzinski's 13 seasons to ink a pro contract. Koepplinger is the second Lawrence player to sign with Macon in the past three years. Forward Matt Moore signed with the Mayhem following the completion of his career in 2016.
