Recap Roundup: February 11

Just one weekend remains in the regular season and some of the dust has now settled when it comes to the playoff race in the NCHA on both the men’s and women’s sides.

On the men’s side, a night after Adrian College clinched a division title, St. Norbert College followed suit, claiming the North Division with a convincing 9-2 victory over the College of St. Scholastica Saturday afternoon. Noah Nelson finished with two goals and five assists for seven points, with his assist and game point totals establishing new St. Norbert records.

Lawrence University stayed alive with a 6-5 victory over Northland College (on an OT goal by Brad Mueller), while Lake Forest College and MSOE leap-frogged up a spot and have made the final race even tighter.

On the women’s side, the top seed is still yet to be decided, but Adrian and Lake Forest have both clinched playoff spots and home ice for semifinals. Concordia came up with a big win, setting the stage for Marian University to grab the final spot the rest of the way.

Finlandia University also finally broke through, getting a 2-1 overtime win over SNC on a Kait Ryynanen goal just nine seconds into the extra period, with Annah Smiddy making 37 saves. The victory was the first for the Lions since Feb. 8, 2014 (70 games).
