Johnnies Battle Back in Third Period, Fall in Overtime

ST. CLOUD, Minn. – Saint John's hockey came back from a 2-0 deficit in the third period but fell to St. Scholastica in overtime, 3-2, on Tuesday, Nov. 26, at the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center (HBNHC) in St. Cloud.

Michael Talbot scored the game-winning goal for CSS (3-5-1, 2-3-1 NCHA) with 1:27 left in overtime. 

Sophomore forward Davis Kirkendall (Hamel, Minn.) started the rally for SJU (2-3-3, 1-1-2 MIAC) with his fourth goal of the season, and second in as many games, 11:06 into the third period.

Freshman defenseman Peter Tabor (Edina, Minn.) tied the game at 2-2 with a shorthanded goal, his first collegiate tally, 3:42 later.

The Saints gained a 2-0, first-period lead on an unassisted goal 3:09 into the game and a breakaway at the 9:43 mark.

Senior goaltender Andrew Lindgren (Minneapolis, Minn.) made 35 saves in the loss.

The Johnnies return to action in two weeks against Hamline at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 10, at the HBNHC.
