LAKE FOREST, Ill. – The Falcons comeback fell short on Friday with a 3-2 loss at Lake Forest. The Falcons move to 8-13-2 on the year and to 7-7-1 in the NCHA.
The Falcons wasted no time scoring on Friday night as sophomore Megan McPike (Mequon, Wis.) scored 2:02 in the game off passes from junior Allison McElwee (Laramie, Wyo.) and senior Issy Bilton (Burlington, Ont.).
The Foresters took the lead with a goal in each period.
Issy Bilton cut into the LFC lead with a goal with 29 seconds remaining with senior Emily Godwin (London, Ont.) and Allison McElwee adding the assists.
Senior Breanna Thomson (St. Marys, Ont.) secured 29 saves at Lake Forest on Friday afternoon.
The Foresters held a 32-28 shots advantage on Friday with Megan McPike leading the flock with seven shots.
The Falcons close the regular season on Saturday at Lake Forest.
CUW will clinch the No. 5 seed in the NCHA Tournament with a win or tie on Saturday or a St. Norbert loss or tie in either of its two games on the weekend.
