Petersen and CUW shut out Marian again

MEQUON, Wis. – Senior Shea Petersen (Rhinelander, Wis.) made quite the splash in her first collegiate start on Friday. The CUW senior and the Falcons iced Marian 4-0 on Friday to improve to 5-5-0 on the year and 5-0-0 against the Sabres.

Junior Emily Reimche (Billings, Mont.) started the scoring off a pass from junior Megan McPike (Mequon, Wis.) in the final minute of the first period.

Junior Baileigh Johnson (Neillsville, Wis.) went top-shelf on the Marian netminder off assists from sophomore Isabela Noyle (Baltimore, Md.) and sophomore Colleen Gilligan (Colborne, Ont.).

Junior Sarah Tretina (Plainfield, Ill.) scored 41 seconds into the third period after she went coast-to-coast across the rink. Sophomore Ali Eiden (Rosemount, Minn.) assisted on the goal.

Emily Reimche closed the scoring halfway through the third period off passes from Sarah Tretina and senior Ally Hull (Wasilla, Alaska.).

The Sabres threatened the break the shutout with a six-on-four advantage but the CUW defense stood tall.

Shea Peterson collected 21 saves in her first collegiate start.

The Falcons held a 41-21 shots advantage on Friday. Megan McPike led all skaters with nine shots.

CUW was able to maintain a majority of the possession after winning 39 faceoffs on Friday with Baileigh Johnson claiming 16 and Emily Reimche collecting 19 victories.
