ANGOLA, Ind. -- The Trine University men's hockey team dropped their final regular-season contest to visiting nationally-ranked Adrian College by the score of 8-1.
The Bulldogs came out firing on all cylinders in the contest scoring two goals in the first three minutes of the contest and three in the first period. They would add two more in the first six minutes of the second period.
The Thunder's lone goal of the contest came in the 12th minute of the second period. Junior Blake Robertson (South Lyon, Mich.) started the play by tying the puck up along the boards. Carmine Taffo (Staten Island, N.Y.) collected the puck from the scrum and passed it along to freshman Brendan Prappas (West Bloomfield, Mich.) who fired two shots on goal, the second struck true.
The goal was too little too late for the team as Adrian would continue to score building their lead to 8-1 by the final minute of play to take the win.
The Thunder finish the regular season with a 12-10-3 overall record and a 10-7-3 record in Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) play.
With other results from around the NCHA, Trine finishes third in the South Division and will head to Lake Forest College for the first round of the NCHA Harris Cup Playoffs. The first of a two-game series will take place on Friday, Feb. 21 with the time still too be decided at this time.
