Overtime Goal Lifts Lawrence Past CUW

APPLETON, Wis. – The Falcons earned a point in the NCHA standings on Friday night when they fell in overtime. The Vikings sent CUW to 2-17-2 with a 4-3 victory.

Senior Cory Dennis (Madison, Wis.) opened the scoring in the final minute of the first period.

The Vikings responded with two goals in the second period to take the lead.

Sophomore Tyler Pang (Victoria, B.C.) tapped in a shot from sophomore Sean Hofstetter (Columbia, Ill.) and a secondary assist from sophomore Liam McGarva (Fort Saskatchewan, Alta.).

Sophomore Alex Way closed the scoring in the second period after he wrapped around the net and blasted a goal from the point off a pass from senior Luc Kreuser (Wisconsin Rapids, Wis.).

The Vikings scored at the 16:33 mark of the third period to tie the game on the power play.

Lawrence found the back of the net again in overtime to secure the victory.

The Vikings posted a 54-22 advantage in shots on Friday. Tyler Pang led CUW with four shots.

Liam McGarva saved 50 shots against the Vikings.

CUW looks to level the weekend series on Saturday at home.
