FOND DU LAC, Wis. — The Saint Mary's University of Minnesota women's hockey team erupted for six goals — equaling their season high from a year ago — in their season-opening 6-3 nonconference win over St. Norbert on Friday.

And the Cardinals picked up right where they left off on Saturday in their showdown against Marian.

The Cardinals used a pair of two-goal periods — one in the first and one in the third — not to mention a 16-save effort from Jordan Keeley (St. Peter, Minn.) en route to a 4-0 victory over Marian Saturday afternoon at the Blue Line Ice Center.

Sophia Zebro (Oak Grove, Minn.) scored her second goal in as many games to get the Cardinals on the board at 7:39 of the opening period, and exactly one minute later, Carson Sheridan (Waunakee, Wis.) netted her first collegiate goal to push the Saint Mary's lead to 2-0.

After a scoreless second period, the Cardinals ramped their offense up again, as Carolyn Chrastka (Franklin Park, Ill.) netted her second goal in two games at 3:55 and Zebro completed her first career two-goal game less than three minutes later to seal the victory.

Courtney Moser (Blaine, Minn.), who had a goal and two assists in Friday's win over St. Norbert, assisted on two of the Cardinals' four goals against the Sabres, while Laruen Rogers, Avrey Simonson (Waupaca, Wis.), Natalie Ryan (Village of Lakewood, Ill.), and Lauryn Folker (Cody, Wyo.) also picked up assists.

Keeley, making her first collegiate start in goal, stopped all 16 Sabre shots she faced — including eight in the game's final 20 minutes — in recording the shutout. Marian goalie Lindsey Strainis, meanwhile, finished with 32 saves.

The Cardinals (2-0-0 overall) are off until Nov. 9-10, when they kick off Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play with a pair of games against St. Thomas. Saint Mary's will host the Tommies in a 7 p.m. matchup at the Saint Mary's Ice Arena on Friday, before heading to the St. Thomas Ice Arena in Mendota Heights, Minn., for the 2 p.m. rematch the following day.
