Trine 5, Hamline 3
A whopping 22 penalties were called between both teams in the contest, and Trine took advantage of Hamline's first infraction when Garrett Hallford scored on the power play at 7:44 of the first period to make the score 1-0. This ignited the Pipers as they strung together three, second-period goals courtesy of Scott Moyer at 2:46, Andrew Erwin at 11:13, and Jackson Wille at 16:31 that made the score 3-1.
That momentum swung in Trine's direction as they responded with four unanswered goals, and Tyler Shetland kicked-off that damage when he registered a goal with 0:20 left in the second period to cut their deficit to 3-2.
Both teams were nearly even in shots in the third period as Trine held a 10-9 advantage. Three of those shots found the back of the net as Jackson Clark, Thad Marcola, and Brett Tierney each scored a goal that helped seal a 5-3 victory for the Thunder.
Pipers goalie Kevin Lake made 31 saves in a complete-game effort, while Trine netminder Shane Brancato stopped 15 shots for Trine.
