Reichenbacher scores twice in Auggie victory

MINNEAPOLIS -- Claiming his first collegiate multi-goal game, Grant Reichenbacher (FY, Verona, Wis./Madison Edgewood HS) scored twice to lead the No. 5-ranked Augsburg University men's hockey team in a 3-1 nonconference win over Aurora University (Ill.) on Friday evening at Ed Saugestad Rink.

THE BASICS
FINAL SCORE: Augsburg 3, Aurora (Ill.) 1
LOCATION: Ed Saugestad Rink, Minneapolis
RECORDS: Augsburg 9-2-0 overall, Aurora 8-5-1 overall.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Reichenbacher broke a 1-1 tie with a goal at the 17:43 mark of the opening period, winning a faceoff and scoring off a rebound of a blocked shot by Ben Henderson (SO, North Branch, Minn./Totino-Grace HS).
• Reichenbacher's second goal came at the 11:45 mark of the second period. An Aurora clearing pass attempt was picked off by Jarod Blackowiak (FY, Eden Prairie, Minn./Eden Prairie HS), who fed a backhand pass to a sprinting Reichenbacher in the slot for a one-timer goal.
• Austin Dollimer (SO, Rosemount, Minn./Rosemount HS) opened the scoring for the Auggies with a goal at the 12:40 mark of the first period, winning a faceoff and redirecting a shot from the point by John O'Connor (SR, Moorhead, Minn./Moorhead HS) to the net for his first goal of the season.
• Goalie Daniil Gerasimov (JR, Moscow, Russia/State School 1944) kept the Auggie lead alive the rest of the way, collecting a career-high 42 saves in goal to improve to 5-2-0 on the season.
• Aurora outshot Augsburg, which was forced to dress just 16 skaters in the game due to injuries, by a 43-21 margin, including an 18-3 advantage in the second period and 14-6 margin in the third period.
