Men's Hockey Team Will Host UW-Eau Claire in NCHA First Round Playoffs

Games Will be Friday and Saturday at Hunt Arena

The Falcon men's hockey team will host UW-Eau Claire in the first round of the NCHA Peters Cup playoffs on Friday and Saturday at Hunt Arena.

Games will start at 7:05 p.m., in the best two-out-of-three game series. If the series is tied, a 20 minute mini game will be played on Saturday night to determine a series winner.
The
The Falcons, 16-7-2 overall, finished third in the final NCHA standings. UWRF and St. Scholastica tied for second  place with 22 points in the final standings. But St. Scholastica won all three regular season games over the Falcons to win the tie breaker.

Eau Claire, 11-11-3 overall, and River Falls played three times this year. In Eau Claire on Dec. 9 the Blugolds took a 5-2 win. On Dec. 10 the Falcons came back for a 6-1 win. On Feb. 2 in a game at Hunt Arena the Falcons took a 3-2 win.

In the other first round series, UW-Stout goes to St. Scholastica and UW-Superior travels to UW-Stevens Point.

The winner of the series will advance to the NCHA semifinal game which will be placed on Feb. 25. St. Nobert, winner of the NCHA regular season championship, will host one of the semifinal games. If St. Scholastica wins its series with Stout, they will host the other semifinal. The only way the Falcons would host a semifinal game is if St. Scholastica loses to Stout and the Falcons beat Eau Claire.

Tickets will be available at the door. No passes will be accepted and all students must purchase a ticket. Tickets are $8 for adults and $4 for students (with ID) and senior citizens (62 years and over). Children four years old and under are admitted free.
