The Lake Forest College men's hockey team finished off a weekend sweep of visiting Finlandia University with a 10-3 victory Saturday afternoon.
Senior forward Cullen Kane scored two of the home team's goals and assisted on three more for a career-high five points.
Fellow senior forward Will Lebel also scored twice while sophomore forward Ben Perkins, freshman forward Jared Gerger, freshman defenseman Connor Sullivan, and senior forward Josh Giacomin each had a goal and two assists. Fourteen of the Foresters' 19 skaters in the game recorded at least one point.
The Lions scored the first goal of the game after just 31 seconds of play. Lake Forest, however, scored twice in the opening period and three times in the second to take a commanding lead. Finlandia stopped the streak with 75 seconds remaining in the second, making the score 5-2 going into the final period.
The Foresters outscored their guests 5-1 in the final frame and out-shot the Lions 55-14 on the day.
Junior goaltender Nick Wiencek was in goal for Lake Forest and improved to 4-2-0 on the season.
The Foresters evened their overall record at 5-5-1 and raised their Northern Collegiate Hockey Association mark to 3-2-1. Finlandia is now 1-11-0 overall and 0-4-0 in the league.
Lake Forest will not play again until New Year's Eve when the team begins a two-game series at Bethel University.
