Ach scores twice to lead Auggies to opening sweep

DULUTH, Minn. -- Emily Ach (SR, Brooklyn Park, Minn./Park Center HS) scored two unassisted goals to help the Augsburg University women's hockey team complete a season-opening nonconference series sweep at the College of St. Scholastica, claiming a 3-2 victory on Sunday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Ach opened the scoring with an unassisted goal at the 12:00 mark of the first period, and gave the Auggies a 3-0 lead on a shorthanded goal at the 14:09 mark of the second period.
• Between Ach's goals, two Auggie first-year players claimed their first collegiate points, as Jenna Gerold (FY, Farmington, Minn./Farmington HS) scored from Katie Flynn (FY, Woodbury, Minn./East Ridge HS) at the 14:09 mark of the second period.
• Augsburg had a 31-20 advantage in shots on-goal in the game, including a 13-2 advantage in the first period. The Auggies also held the Saints to just one power-play goal in five opportunities.
• Making just her second collegiate start and fourth appearance of her career in goal, Abby Bollig (SO, Farmington, Minn./Farmington HS) stopped 18 of the 20 shots she faced to register her first collegiate victory.

FOR THE FOES
• St. Scholastica scored twice late in the second period, as Taylor Murray scored a power-play goal from Rachel Anderson and Taylor Thompson at the 14:30 mark, and Sam Gorecki scored from Thompson at the 19:52 mark.
• Lexi Thomeczek had 28 saves in goal for the Saints.
