Saint Benedict sinks Women’s Hockey

MEQUON, Wis. – The Falcons fell short in a non-conference match-up on Friday afternoon against Saint Benedict. The Bennis won 2-1 to send the Falcons to 2-6-1 on the year.

The Bennies struck first on a wrap-around shot.

The Falcons evened the game on the power play in the period when senior Natasha Wanless (Madison, Wis.) took the puck to the net and tapped the puck over the keeper, being the keeper; Junior Ally Hull (Wasilla, Alaska) passed the puck to sophomore Emily Reimche (Billings, Mont.) to even the score.

Saint Benedict scored on the power play at the 15:33 mark of the third period on a short-angle shot to earn the victory.

Senior Breanna Thomson (St. Mary's, Ont.) had 32 saves on Friday.

The CUW penalty kill killed off five penalties on Friday afternoon.

The Bennies held a 34-26 shots advantage in the victory.

The two teams will meet again on Saturday afternoon.
