ASHWAUBENON, Wis. -- Augsburg University took a 1-0 lead into the third period against top-ranked St. Norbert College, but the Green Knights scored three goals in a 5:02 span to claim a 3-1 nonconference men's hockey victory on Friday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Nate Flynn (SR, Hastings, Minn./Hastings HS) scored his team-leading seventh goal of the season 2:56 into the second period, putting home a shot in the slot from
Evan Hesse (SR, Monticello, Minn./Palmer (Alaska) HS) and
Max Pernhem (SR, Stockholm, Sweden/Dragonskolan). The power-play goal was just the seventh surrendered by St. Norbert in 42 opportunities this season.
• But St. Norbert scored three goals in rapid fashion and claimed a 3-1 lead halfway through the final period. The Green Knights outshot the Auggies 11-6 in the third period, en route to a 35-25 advantage in shots on-goal.

Nick Schmit (JR, Fargo, N.D./Fargo North HS) had 32 saves in goal for the Auggies.
• Augsburg was successful in killing off all six St. Norbert power-play opportunities in the contest.
• Augsburg entered the weekend ranked No. 7 in the USCHO.com Division III national poll and No. 8 in the D3hockey.com national poll, while St. Norbert is the No. 1-ranked team in both national polls.
FOR THE FOES
• William Yates, Tyler Andrews and Tanner Froese scored goals for St. Norbert in the third period. Luke Karakas and Dominick Sacco had two assists each.
• T.J. Black stopped 24 shots in goal for the Green Knights.
